Dragon foot, serpent lady, draconcopodes. Call it what you will, the monster featured in this colorful cross stitch pattern was known from Greek antiquity into the Middle Ages and was seen as a powerful warning against trickery and deception. The image is recreated in detail from a 13th century French manuscript that describes all manner of beasties and creepy crawlies that inhabited the medieval imagination. This is a wonderful pattern for cross stitchers who love art history, fantasy and mythological creatures, or who just want to stitch something a little unusual.
